A.P.Santhana Raj
A.P. Santhana Raj Born in 1932 in Tamil Nadu. Painter and Sculptor. Studied at the college of Arts and Crafts, Madras. Joined the college as a teacher in 1958, and was its Principal from 1985 - 1990. Recipient of several awards, including the first National Award in 1957, National Award in 1962 the Kala Ratna in Delhi in 1997, on the occasion of 50 years of Indian independence, the kalimamani Shiromani award by the Tamil Nadu Government in 1996. Retrospectives of his works were held in Delhi in 1990 and 2001. Participated in several international exhibitions, including the Common wealth Exhibition in London. Executed portraits for parliament House, Delhi, and murals for the Madras state Museum.
