Patachitra or Pattachitra is a general term for traditional, cloth-based scroll painting, based in the eastern Indian states of Odisha, West Bengal and parts of Bangladesh. Patachitra art form is known for its intricate details as well as mythological narratives and folktales inscribed in it. Bold, Strong outlines, vibrant colours like white, red, yellow and black with decorative borders are some of the characteristics of Patachitra painting style, that is admired by art lovers across the globe. The painters use vegetable and mineral colours without going for factory-made poster colours.
