Mona Rai: She did her MA in Psychology from Delhi University and studied Art in Triveni Kala Sangam. Canvas mimics skin in Mona Rai’s oeuvre revealing process of rupture and restoration, decomposition and rejuvenation. At first glance her works of burnished fields of gold and silver seem to be an ode to a world of glitz and glamour. A closer reading reveals that they are elaborate arenas where battles are fought and won and lost. During her long and distinguished career, she has had many solo and group shows. Her works have also been exhibited internationally and have featured in several prestigious collections, such as the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, and other private collection in India and abroad.
