Bijon Chowdhury: He was born in erstwhile Calcutta. He joined the Calcutta College of Arts and Craft but then changed and graduated from The Govt. Institute of Arts, Dhaka. The artist has worked on the imagery of Bengali poetry as it has evolved since its earliest days to the present. His paintings have narrative elements but are in no way illustrative. His works have been exhibited in innumerable solo and group shows across the country. He is the winner of several national level awards while his works are in the collection of prestigious museums in India including the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.
